TEACHERS (3:1-2NIV)

1. Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

2. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

from the James 3 Bible study

A study question for verse 2

One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). As we abide in Christ, the fruit of self-control blossoms in us. It will not only impact what we do, but also what we say. James implies that it is easier to exercise self-control over our actions than our words. Explain why the sin of speech can so quickly entangle us.
