DON'T SHOW FAVORITISM (2:1-4NIV)
1.
My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show
favoritism.
2.
Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine
clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in.
3. If
you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say,
"Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there"
or "Sit on the floor by my feet,"
4.
have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil
thoughts?

A study
question for verse 4
When we come to Christ
and are made new, our differing appearances no longer matter. As
believers, we become one in Christ. The focus is no longer on our
outward differences, but on our inward oneness in Christ (Colossians
3:10-11). What are some of the more common ways we make distinctions
between ourselves and other fellow believers? (This is a good question
to discuss with others as we may be totally unaware of some of our own
personal prejudices.) |
